                    HAND PAINTED, PERSONALIZED PILLOWS

Since today is my wedding anniversary I thought this post would be fitting. For these simple pillows I wanted to make them special so I decided to write part of our vows to each other as a reminder of our love and commitment we share. I love how they turned out!

http://www.deliacreates.com This is a pretty good tutorial if you’ve never sewn an envelope pillow case before.

So I really love pillows :) and many pages of my sketchbook look like this. With the chilly weather setting in I’ve been drooling over cable knit anything these days. Blankets, sweaters, pillows, I love it all. Now that it’s colder people are going through their closets and getting rid of lovely sweaters, yay! I found this one, an XXL men’s white Irish wool, at a thrift store for a few bucks. I used the arms to make our Christmas stockings and the body for the pillow case. This is not an envelope style. After I flipped it right side out I hand sewed it shut.

Another way to get unique affordable pillows? The lovely olive green ones are made from cloth napkins I found at an antique store. The perfect square. A set of 6 for $4! And a perfect color match I was looking for our bedroom. I sewed them the same way as the sweater pillow, 1/4 - 1/2 inch seam allowance around the border, leaving an opening to flip right side out, and then hand sew shut.

Thankful for a pretty place to lay our heads :)

NOVEMBER GIVEAWAY!

Yay! I love giveaways! I’ve been including more delicate minimalistic brass pieces for Spectrum. This necklace is so simple but so lovely. So here’s how you WIN IT! Being the month of November and Thanksgiving coming up so quickly, I’m always reminded of the blessings God has poured out on me. So simply leave a comment of something that you are thankful for and this beauty could be yours! Deadline is this Tuesday, Nov. 19th.

Side note, the website is down due to some revamping and has taken me longer than expected to tie up loose ends, but the plan is to have it up next week showcasing new pieces. Sorry for any inconvenience and frustration you may have had with it if you’ve tried to visit it, but trust me waiting will be worth it in the end!

Block Party Sale!!!

All of Spectrum pieces will be 25% off at Urban Digs (Greenville, SC) this Saturday! Get a jump on your Christmas shopping and enjoy some great food!

NEW Men’s Line at Spectrum

What’s Spectrum up to? Well, currently working on a new website that is keeping me on my toes while adding new products to the new Men’s Line that I will be officially announcing when the new site goes up, and working on new pieces for Indie Craft Holiday Fair coming up next month! Phew! Here’s a pic from the shoot over the weekend featuring a wooden tie clip worn by the dapper Dan. They are getting snatched up faster than I can make them!

Baklava

So so so good!! I will be definitely be making this again. My friend Alysha and I needed a Greek dessert to go with our Greek dinner, so we went to Pinterest and found one that looked good. I’ve never made Baklava before. All the buttery, sweet, delicate layers weren’t as hard as I thought. It just takes a bit of time to lay layer after layer but well worth it! The recipe link is below.

Exploring Wilmington NC With A Dear Friend

It’s been great having visitors since my husband and I moved to Wilmington. I can’t believe it’s been like a month already since my friend Alysha, who I spent most of my teenage years with in NY, came to visit for a few days. It has been almost two years since we’ve seen each other so we thought we’d do some exploring in beautiful Wilmington. Shopping down town, coffee, the beach, farmers market on the river, antiquing/thrifting, delicious food and old classic movies is only some of the wonderful experiences we packed into the time we had. So many photos, but I couldn’t help it :) We had such a great time and we live in a lovely place!
